EXCELLENT LECTURE WEDNSDAY NIGH' Slides and Moving Picturei Illustrated the Address. Wednesday evening, in the chapel, Mr. P. E. McDougall, of the Bureau of Commercial Eco nomics, Philadelphia, lectured on the subject, "From Ocean tc Ocearf." The lecture was aptly illustrated by lantern slides and several reels of motion pictures. The lecture was well attended, the faculty being especially well represented. Mr. McDougall is a Canadiar by birth and residence. He is one of quite a number of lec turers under the Bureau of Com mercial Economics who visits the American colleges and uni versities every year. Tle trip from ocean to ocear thru Canada was graphically presented. Beginning at New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Evangeline's Acadia, the speak er carried his hearers down the St. Lawrence River, across the Great Lakes, thru the fertile re gions of Manitabo, Saskatch ewan and Alberta, and across the beautiful Canadian Rockies to Vancouver, British Colum bia, stopping off at many points en route to view the cities, the country, and to make a few ob servations. At the beginning of his ad dress Mr. MacDougall said that h!s stay in Columuia had Leen especially pleasant and that an hour with Dr. Joynes had been p tr ticiiarly enjoyed. Summer School On June 21. The second sessio'i of the South Carolina State Summer School for High School Teachers he:d at the !niversity of South Carolina will begin on Monday, June 21, and run until Friday July 17. The first session was held in the summer of 1914 and proved even a greater success than had been expected. The s:ane instructors that were here last summer will serve agair with the aid of four additional ones. The teachers will have rooms in Thornwell and Woodrow for fee of three dolh.rs, to I.e us-d for furniture rent and servant hire. The former building wiil be reserved for men and the lat ter for women. Meals will be served at the University com muons th)e whole session. Civic Club Elects. At a meetir,g of the- Civic Club last night the following of ficers were elected for the en suing term: president, A. E. Merrimon; vice-president,' S. Blatt; secretary, D. S. Polier; treasurer. L. W.
