Our new spring shoes broke us to buy them and we broke them to wear them. ** It is said that money talks, but we have to do most of it when we want a little cash. * * * It is strange that those higher math students haven't figured out some means of abolishing the pesky stuff. * ** Slats says Davidson's third baseman is called Black, but from the errors he made he should be called boot-black. Gambrell says "She had on grey slippers, grey stockings, grey coat-suit and grey hat. Oh, sweet thing!" But where's the grey matter? A LIBRARY ABUSE The library is the literary store house of the students. There are very few references that cannot be found there. But it is an economic impossibil ity to have as many copies of a. book as there are students who need that book. A great number of classes have certain books to which they are referred once, and sometimes every day, for a month. It is always necessary to put those books on the reserved shelves. Then a man might take them out for half a day or for a night. This privilege has been too much abused. Just recently we know of a class that was re ferred to a book of which there were only four copies in the li brary. Every member of the ~ class had to use the book. Im i mediately four men went to the library and took advantage of the librarian because he did not know the book was to be used by the entire class. These men took the books to - their rooms and kept them for about a week, some of them longer. The other members of the class had to answer "unprepared." This is not all. One or two men went out of town for sev eral days and left the books lock- - ed in their rooms. The answer of one was, "I am not to blame. I couldn't carry thr hook back when I was out of town." That man was seriously in default. He did the wrong thing to keep the book out of the library. He doubled the abuse when he went out of town and left the book in his room. He nor any one else could use it. He knew that every man in that class needed the book. We admire a man who tries to learn all that he can, but we ~ deprecate the practice of rob bing another of his chance. It can but be a selfish motive that prompts a man to take from the library, and keep in his room for a week or so, a book that others need. LACK OF LUMBER DELAYS FENCE Grandstand Will Not Be Com pleted This Season. A thirty day contract has been let to the Seastrunk Construe tion Co. for building the grand stand and bleachers. The thirty days are counted from April I3, the day on which the lumber arrived. The grandstand . will have a capacity of twelve b hundred and the bleachers eight b hundred. The bleachers will be 1b divided into six sections, 'each '" being twenty feet long..
