Carolina will open the baseball season here in a three-day en gagement with Lafayette March 22-24. For the past two years Lafayette has met the Game cocks in the opening fray of the season. Carolina has always held her own with this strong North ern college, and last year she came very near taking the series from the Pennsylvania team. The Carolina squad has been working hard for the past few weeks and Coach Smith says the prospects are bright for a winning team. With nearly three weeks before the opening fray, the Gamecocks should be in their old time form to meet the foe from Lafayette. The new schedule as given out by Manager Edmunds is printed below. Several changes in date will be noted. The reason for these changes was that Carolina expected to use the Columbia league team's park and was com pelled to arrange her schedule to fit in with the league team's ab sences. Also note should be tak en that games with Muhlenburg College hLve been substituted for those v ith Washington and Lee. Muhlenberg is the Marist college of Pennsylvania.
