CO-ED DEPARTMENT "PAitor, Miae Pearl Pri4v. Among the new students that entered the University this term is Miss Alma Moyee of Lexing ton. Miss Nellie Marks was absent from college several days this week, attending the State Stu dent Volunteer Convention. Miss Lois Warren Ballough, B. A. '13; was a visitor at the Women's dormitory last week. Miss -Ballough is teacher of Mathematics and Physics in the St. Mathews High School this year. Because of. examinations the gymnasium class has not met for two weeks until Thursday. There were not as many present at this meeting as was expected. All women students of the Uni versity who care to take the work for this term are urged to meet with the class on Tues day evening at the three o'clock in the gymnasium. Mr. James M. Montgomery en tertained his Bible Class Tuesday evening in the parlors of the Women's dormitory. The en tertainment was as a reward for having the most faithful at tendance of the three Bible Classes. There were about fif teen couples to participate in the good time, and all enjoyed thoroughly the games, which afforded an all too brief return to the realms of childhood. ALUMNI FORM ATH LETIC ASSOCIATION Gra4uates to Support Carolina Athletic Teams. Over 75 alumni of the Univer sity met at Flinn Hall on the evening of Founders' Day for the purpose of organizing an alumni athletic association. This association will he known as The Alumni - Athletic Association of the University of South Caroli na. C. T. Graydon presided over the meeting. Dr. R. K. Foster, of Timmonsville, was elected president, )r. Reed Smith; of the University faculty, vice-president, and Albert Ehr lick, of Columbia, secretary and treasurer. George C. Taylor, Reed Smith and C. G. Gunter compose a committee to draw up a consti tution. The association will meet again at an earfy date and form defi nite plans for w'rk. , This organization is certain to prove a great benefit for Caro lina as similar ones have done in manyonther olleges. ANNUAL ALUMNI MEETING,lIELD Dr. Currell Asks Graduates to Cooperate With $ s"ts. The Alumni, scp.at}on of the Uni.versity of South Carolina held a meeting in LeQonte col lege on Founders' Day. wit4;45 members pesent. harry Ed munds, vice-president, presided, President Lucas being unable to attend the .meeting. Dr. Currell, in an address before the associ ation, asked for the cooperation of the Alumni and the students in all matters, especially in the construction of a fence around the athletic field. A committee was appointed to take this mat ter up immediately. The follow ing men were named: C. G. Gunter, John Blackburn, C. T. Graydon, E. D. Sompayrac and George C. Taylor. Two other committees were appointed, one on history and tradition, the other on formulating a policy for the Alumni. Officers were elected for next year as follows: William H. Hamer, of Dillon, president; Robert Moorman, of Columbia, vice-president; A. C. Carsor secretary and treasurer; E. W. Robertson chairman; Rev. G. G. Mayes, W. W. Ball, C. R. Scar borough and C. C. Wilson ex ecutive committee; Edwin E. Siebels treasurer alumni loan fund. Bill Failed to Pass. The future law students of Carolina will be glad that the bill introduced into the legis lature requiring all graduates of the law school to stand the State Bar examinations failed to pass. The bill would have prevented many students com ing to the law school for anyone could read law in the of fices and not have to come to college to study it. Inaugurate Officers.
