OUR PRESIDENT.
The new president of the Uni-.
versity has been formally in
augurated. His name is not
new to us nor are his actions as
president of this institution. We
all know the man that he is, a
refined gentleman, striving in
every possible way to upbuild
Carolina, to make it a un'versity
that will compare favorably with
the other state universities of
the South. His past actions
have shown us that he loves
Carolina and cherishes it as a
son among his seven daughters.
He is quickly adapting himself
to the fertile soil and pure air of
South Carolina. In fact he is
her native son, only removed
from her by a period spent in
Virginia. We welcome him
back and resolve to do our ut
most by cooperation with him in
whatever he undertakes.
Dr. Currell has made a deep
impression upon the people of
the whole State as well as the
students of Carolina. People in
every county who have not
heard him speak, have heard of
his ability and invited him to
give an address to them. All this
is for the welfare of the Uni
versity, for by his lectures he
attracts many students to Caro
lina.
Much more could be said here
but we know him. Let his ac
tions speak for his capability.
MISS McCLINTOCK.
The resignation of Miss Eu
phemia McClintock, president
of C. F. W., came as a surprise
and with much regret to the stu
dents of Carolina. All hope
that she will reconsider if C. F.
W. does not unite with Chicora,
and if it does, that she will re
main with the new institution.
Miss McClintock has been the
friend of the University students
and has cooperated in every way
possible with faculty and stu
dents. We appreciate her earn
est efforts to coordinate C. F. W.
with Carolina and regret that
owing to a technicality the in
stitutions were not joined.
The Carolina student body and
the Gamecock wish success to
Miss McClintock in her new field'
and feel sure that their wish will
come true.
