Dfi FINANCIAL AID FOR > DEBATING COUNCIL a Trustees Make Appropiation for Intercollegiate Contests-Fee to be Charged in Future. - Realizing the strained finah cial condition of the two liter erary societies, the trustce of a the University have decided to give each of them fifty dollars. They have - also agreed that, , starting next year, it will be in cumbent upon each student of - the University to pay one dol lar a year to help defray the ex pense of the intercollegiate e contests. Each society will get t, half of the money paid in. Any e who are members of either of r the societies will be credited on , the societies' books for the amount paid the treasurer of the 1 University. 3 The trustees feel that the soci - etlies are of vital importance to a the University and should be re t lieved of part of. their burden. I CLASS BASKETBALL SEASON OPENS Sophomores Win From Fresh men by the Score of 13 to9. The class basketball season r opened last night when the sophs I defeated the freshies to the tune i 13 to 9. The game was hotly con tested, and the result was in _ doubt until the whistle blew. The sophs' superior passing enabled them to turn the tables on their rivals.
