Why not give Turkey to Bel

Those African troops have

Why don't the co-eds organize
a football team? They would
have fine kickers with very little
practice.
At last, give the freshmen
credit of realizing that they need
hazing.
If the Blue Laws were only.
executed, they at least would
be appropriately named.

An advertisement says, "I am

He's a fool to be doing it this
cold weather.

"Many a good man has failed
because he had a wishbone where
his backbone ought to have
been."
"A man's value in the world is
estimated and paid for according
to the ability he uses, NOT what
he may possess."
Enduring Success.
"He has achieved success who
has lived well, laughed often,
and loved much; who has
gained the respect of intelligent
men and the love of little child
ren; who has left the world bet
ter than he found it, whether by
an improved poppy, a perfect
poem, or a rescued soul; who has
always looked for the best in
others, and given the best he
had; whose life was an inspira
tion, whose memory a benedic
tion."
The Same Here.
Other colleges seem to have
athletic (?) co-eds, judging by
the following clipping:
"The young ladies of the Uni
versity of Vermont do not like
the idea of being excluded from
the world of athletics. During
the latter part of October they
held a track meet. The program
inc!uded the dashes, hurdles,
broad-jump and shot-putting.
A baseball game was also played.
The men were excluded from
the grounds, but it is reported
that roofs of the nearby houses
were crowded."
President Will Be Away.
Our new president seems to be
very much in demand as a
speaker. Sunday he will ad
dress a mass meeting for men in
the Columbia theatre. Thanks
giving he will talk before the
congregation of the Tree of Life'
Synagogue in this city. His
next appointment will be ati
Rock Hill where he will meet the
chamber of commerce.

Agricultural Chemistry.
Editor of The Gamecock:
The University should be in
in close touch with the people of
South Carolina, and should make
every effort to supply any need
along educational lines.
All over the State there is a
growing demand for men that
can teach practical agriculture.
The success of every farmer
is directly dependent upon his
knowledge of several sciences,
namely, botany, entomology and
that branch of chemisty known as
as agricultural chemistry.
We have the courses in botany,
entomology and general agri
culture. We should have a course
in agricultural chemistry. Then
any one by taking these courses
would fit himself to go out and
teach this subject.
We should recognize that
every man in the University is
directly or indirectly interested
in the agricultural welfare of the
State. A few men should leave
this University each year that
will be- able to give to the far
mers of this State the knowledge
that they require on this subject.
"Interested Student."
Absent Minded Faculty.
The members of the faculty
are so busy that they do not
take time to read notices sent
from the president's office. So,
last Tuesday several of them
had the pleasure of coming to
faculty meeting, when they had
previously signed a paper an
nouncing that the regular meet
ing of the student's mentors
would be postponed. For our
own good we refrain from call
ing names. N. B. We said men
tors by mistake, we intended to
say tormentors.
John Blackburn, our gym in
structor, says he is in a peculiar
situation, he is neither a mem
ber of the faculty nor of the stu
dent body. It has been sug
gested that he belongs to the
janitor class, since his chief duty
is to remove surplus avoir.dnnoi.
