Langston's Brilliant Work Fea ture of Game-Kerr, Cog geshall, Also Play Well. Spartan burg, Nov. 4.-Caro lina played better than Wofford here today and the University eleven defeated the Methodists 25 to 0. The Carolina goal was never in real danger. "Bub" Langston's brilliant running, and the work of Kerr, Coggeshall, Girardeau and En glish featured for Carolina, while the playing of Capt. Os borne and Hamer featured for Wofford. Carolina scored in the first, scecoud, and fourth quarter, the touchdowns being maae by Cog geshall, Geer, Kerr and Richards. Several Carolina varsity players were not in the game. Carolina 25. Short Biography of the World Famous Authority on Sex Hygiene. As announced in the last issue of THE GAMECOCK, Dr. Winfield Scott Hall will visit the Univer sity on Sunday and Monday, November 8th and 9th. Had Dr. Scott ever visited the University before, an introduc tion would be uncalled for, but since this is his first visit, Caro Clina men .hould know in ad vance who Dr. Hall is and some thing of the work he is doing. Dr. Winfield Scott Hall is an M. D. and M. S. of Northwest ern University and an M. D. and Ph. D. of the University of Leipzig, Germany. He is pro fessor of physiology at North western, and lecturer in several training schools in Chicag3. As an author, Dr. Hall is well known to the medical world. His books on Nutrition, Physi ology and Sexology are standard and authoritative. He is the author of a series of books for boys and young men dealing with matters of sex that have the universal approval of physi cal directors. Dr. Hall's work for young men has proved so effective, that the fnternational Committee of the Young Men's Christian Associa tion has arranged with hi.n to visit the leading Universities and Colleges thruout the United States. Dr. Hall is an intensely inter esting speaker and handles his ;ubject in that delicate, accurate :md scientific way known only to the well trained physician. Among the ket.ure3 he gives are "The Psychology of Youth," "From Youth to Manhood," "Social Ethics," "The Sex ilfe of Man." Two lectures will be given at the University in Flinn Hail. The first will be at 1 o'ciock Sun day, and the second at 7:30 Mon day night. Dr. Hall will also speak at the city Y. M. C. A., the theatre meeting and at the other colleges whi.e in the city. No University student can af ford to miss these lectures. It is not once in a decade that a man like Dr. Hall comnes our wav. DR. BLACKWOOD MAKES INTERESTING ADDRESS Speaks To Y. M. C. A. On "The Young Man Jesus." Newly Installed Pastor of First Presbyterian Church Pleases Good Size Audience. "The Young Man Jesus" was the subject of the address deliv ered by Dr. Andrew W. Black wood, pastor of the First Pres byterian Church, before the Y. M. C. A. on last Thurday even ing. The talk, besides being earnest and enthusiastic, ranked among the best ever given be fore the Association. His speech, in brief, was as follows: "Jesus himself was a young man in heart, in feelings, in years and in temptations. We have been taught to look upon ifim as an old man; in the pic tures of the art galleries His face has been depicted in fea tures of solemnity and sadness. This is a misconception. The Bible in giving the history of His iife, as written by His followers. is a man's book. Its religion is the religion of a young man. "The Master was not only a young man but He was a model young man. A mn of this character must possess idealism, optimism, endurance, patience and courage. All of these vir tues in their proportion were set forth in the life of Christ. His associates and disciples were men of few years. The call of Christ has ever been to young men and conversion of the old has been the exception. The life of Christ was one of power, of action, of events and of youthfulness." The speaker emphasized the fact that a few earnest young men could determine and influ ence the spiritual life of the Uni versity and of the State, and closed his address by showing the power which the Y. M. C. A. can exert for good over the stu dent body. Dr. Currell at Cnester. Sunday, November ), )r. Cu: - rell delivered two addresses in Chester. In the morning I-e spoke to a large congregatioi at the Purity Presbyterian Church: in the evening he gave his ae dress on "The Model Bible Stu dent," at the Bethel M. E. Chi:rch before the Methodists and Presbyterians of Chester. The people of Chester were quite "taken with" D)r. CurrelL WAKE FOREST BATTLES EDGERTON'S MEN TODAY Game to be Played at League Park, 3:15 O'clock. Baptists Confident of Victory-~ Local Team in Good Condi tion-Splendid Officials. Wake Forest expects to trim Carolina this afternoon by at least three touchdowns, accord ing to a statement made in a Charlotte paper by Coach Smith. Although the University of North Carolina defeated the Tarheel Baptists 57 to 0, they are confi dent that with their subsequent work they will run over the Gar net and Black when they meet at the league park at 3:15 today. Last year Carolina was victor in this annual contest by a score of 27 to 10. But Wake Forest claims to have the best team in their history, with Billings and tiddick starring. For the Gamecocks Heyward, Johnson and Stoney will be back in the game in addition to the team which defeated Wofford on Wednesday at Spartan burg. Wake Forest claims that they were defeated last year more by the heat than by the Gamecocks. So they intend to bring a. full quoto of substitutes. The cheer leaders urge that the Carolina men sit as much in a body as possible to add more life to the cheering. Excellent officials have been secured for the game. They are: Referee, Peden (Penn.); umpire. Samson (St, Albans); head lines man, Ervin (Davidson). Soph. Class Football. The sophomores are in class football to win this year. They are practicing regularly every afternoon on Gibbe's Green, and will have a full mont'hs work bu fore the class games are played. J. C. McI)ow was elected cap tain Wednesday afternoon. He is to select a coach as soon as oneis available. This pre-class workout may result in the devel opment of some varsity material. Among those now at work are: .Wels, MI)ow, Purdy, Bates.
