TALE OF SEA SERPENT GIVEN NEXT WEEK Polka Dot Club Will Present Novel Performance. "The Tale of the Sea Serpent" to be presented by the Polka Dot club of the University in the Co lumbia theatre Monday and Tues day, is a creation in two acts by the noted musician, Mr. A. J. Garing of Columbia, who for the past six years has been a mem ber of Sousa's famous band. The production is one replete with sweet music and humorous pre dicaments. The Polka Dot club consisting of more than 40 ac complished singers and actors is officered by the following: A. Burnett Stoney, Camden, S. C., president. S. L. Latimer, Columbia, S. C., manager. J. L. Perkins, Darlington, S. C., secretary. M. B. Boulware, Winnsboro, S. C., treasurer. The following is the cast of characters in "The Tale of the Sea Serpent:" Willie Teed, H. S. Reeves ("Varsity Dick," monologue ar tist and comedian), Joe Teed, Will Rudisill--German comedians and proprietors of the Teed Sum nmer Hotel. Daisy Court, prima donna- Ed H. Carpenter. Capt. Bluff of the steamship Dreadful-Allan M. Paul (live wire artist). Maud Worthington, leading in genue--Foster Marshall (imnper sonator of sweet girlhood) Paul Armstrong, leading juvi nal --Burnett Stoney. Madge Doin, of Bowery fame Charlie Green. Bill Biff, of the Bowery-Fred Rudisill. Queen Lil of the Gypsy tribe Frank Sims. Captain Jack, of the Gypsy tribe--Allan Paul. First officer S. S. Dreadful John D. Mills ("Big Mills"). Second officer S. S. Dreadful John Shuler (star third baseman) Among choruses and songs that will be delightfully rendered will be "The Sailor Girl," "The Cook and the Book," "First Offi cer's Chorus," "Swing Song" (octet), "Gypsy Chorus," "Sweetheart May" (sextet girls), "Teed and Teed" (sextet boys), besides various songs and solos touching on national and local characters and topics. The fol lowing members of the club ren der the above choruses and songs and impersonate various charac ters: Singers and impersonators of young ladies: Messrs. Bristow, Crowther4 Fuller, Mullins, Ab bot, Elliott,. McGowan, McDow, Spencer, Hodges, and Heyward (D)an. the relinhle). MOOT COURT CONVENES Young Lawyers Make Strong Arguments in Civil Case. The Moot Court held its regu lar weekly session Wednesday night in the law room. C. T. Graydon, who graduated in law at Carolina last year, acted as judge at this session. An important civil case was argued by the young lawyers. The case was, Gerald Sampson, plaintiff, suing Curtis Bros., de fendant, for injuries received while doing some plumbing work around town hall, the amount sued for being $5,000. Witness es appeared for both sides. The case was tried by a jury, which decided in favor of the defend ant. Attorneys for the plaintiff were Levy and Nicholson; for defendant Griffith and Horton. Judge Graydon's charge to the jury could not well have been ex celled, and deserves especial mention. This is the first time this year that a case has been tried in the Moot Court when attorneys for both sides were juniors. All made able and logical arguments in behalf of their clients. Boys: Messrs. Langston, Ed munds, Sligh, Farrell, Shuler, Wilds, Dabbs, Sawyer, L. Ston ey, W. Stoney, Mills (Big Boy), Stevens, LaMotte, Edens, War ing, Dougherty and Heyward ("Slim'') Especially designed souvenir programs will be distributed among the audience on each oc casion. The matinee Tuesday af ternoon will be given by special request for the benefit of chil dren and ladies who for various reasons will be unable to attend the evening entertainments. The' prices are exceedingly small for an entertainment of the high class which this will be and should give the performers hou: es to overflowing on each occa sion of the rendering of this de lightful musical comedy.
