MR. SULLIVAN SPEAKS Instructive Address - Enjoyed by Students. Wednesday evening in LeConte college Mr. Sullivan, of the United States Weather bureau, delivered his second lecture of the series. The subject of his lecture was "The United States Weather Bureau.'' Mr. Sullivan first spoke of the i development of the weather hu reau from the year 1870 to 1891, during which time it was under the war department. It was re leased from military service in - 1891, and has greatly expanded C- since that time as the depart ' ment of agriculture, until it now * excites the admiration of the civ ilized world. le mentioned the fact that there are two stati(ns in this Slate, one at Columbia and one at Charleston. There are fifty one in all, including sll) or coop erative stations in South Caro lina. Mr. Sullivan spoke of the importance of newspapers coop erating with the department, stating that their cooperation is absolutely necessary to make the department a success.
