CAROLINA DROPS
SECOND BATTLE.
Leaguers Cop Thursday's Game
Easily.
The second game of the series
with the Columbia leaguers re
sulted in a 9 to 1 defeat for the
University. The professionals
showed greatly improved form
over the exhibition of the pre
vious day. They hit the ball
hard and fielded in good style.
Carolina fielded well at times but
somehow could not hit to any
: appreciable extent, only three
being registered to their credit
during the entire game.
W. Rudisill was the star for
Carolina, playing a splendid
game afield. Capt. Edens made
3 a sensational catch near the foul
line. A catch by Joe Holland
and a stop by Betsel were the
fielding features for the Comers.
The Corners got two runs in
the first inning, which alone
were enough to win the game.
Eberts was hit and took third on
Boozer's bunt. Harbison walked
and stole. Both scored on Hol
land's double to center.
The third inning was a big
one for the Corners, they piling
up six runs before three were
put out. The last run was scored
in the eighth. Plaxico dropped
