To our mind the fourth year Latin student was exactly correct when he said: "What I don't know about Latin is hardly worth knowing and *hat I do know isn't worth more than a cent or two." Who are the best two men on Bill Streit's second all-Southern team? Order! Order! The vote is unanimous, and the gentlemen are awarded the hon or. (Loud and prolonged ap plause.) We are dead against these in sidious lobbies, just like Wood row-but while at home during the holidays, you might ease up to your legislative representative and casually drop a few words about how rotten our chapel is. THE TRACK ASSOCIATION. Last week there was held at the University a meeting that was fraught with interest to those who wish the University to do well in athletics.. This was the meeting held here to form a State track association. Every one knows that for the past few years the University has failed dismally in her efforts to put out a track team. This may be attributed in part to the fact that a suitable coach had not been secured. But this fault has entirely been remedied this year. We have two coaches both of whom are redhot live wires. These men are doing their utiost to put out the best bunch of men that ever donned the Garnet and Black track duds. But the thing that will contri bute the most to a successful season will be the interest that the fellows are going to take in this form of athletics. This is our one chance to retrieve the loss of the Clemson game. We have some fellows here that ought to do as well as any men in the State. This meeting is not only good for the best interest of the Uni1 'versity but for the State at large. It will bring the col leges of the State into closer af filiation and will serve to ce ment the bonds of friendship be tween them. We have always needed some such association so that we could engage in athletic contests with Presbyterian Col e and W ttbrd: These et eges should all put out a track team, The high schools of the, St't' have achieved wonderful resitji with their organization. s w d$ should we not do as well? SWIPING MAGAZINES. Those fellows who are connect ed with the Carolinian are re ceiving considerable trouble, be cause of the fellows taking the exchanges out of the postoffice. At the recent Press Associatieii convention held at Erskine, the representatives of Carolina were well blessed out because they had failed to respond to exchanges they had never received. Fellows may not realize that they are working a serious injury to the good name of the Univer sity. It was very hard for the delegates from ' alina to say that some of the fellows had tak en the magazines from the post office. There is not the slightest use for the men to act like this. Every exchange received here will be placed upon the table in Flinn Hall where evei-y one will have free access to them. This will save the managers of the Carolinian much embarrassment and will also leave us in good re putewith other college magazines. CLASS FOOTBALL. That was a very good idea, of the Advisory Board in not allow ing any men who had participa ted in either a varsity or scrub game to play class football. This season there has been a marked scarcity of material on the foot ball field and to remedy this de fect, the Advisory Board passed this rule. This will allow. Coach Edger ton to get a line on some of the embryo Brickleys, Mahans, Coys, Heffelfingers, Hestons, etc., that have not been developed this year. There are men here who can show the goods in a manner cal culated to twist rings in the Ti ger's tail next Fair Week. It will also put the classes on a more equal - standpoint in their games, for most of the men who go out for class teams are those who haven't played at all.
