On September 11, 1918, a .lettet was'receiitd from David son stating thatthe, gome would be changed,to 'Davidson because the grounds in Chirldtte weke not available., for that date. It seems that Mr. Cook, the coach was told by a Yiewpapr man in Charlotte that A., & M. and North' Carolina had the grounds in Charlotte for November 15. Re lying on this without further. in vestigation Davidson wrote Car olina"-,to that :effect. Carolina wrote to Charlotte and found out that the grounds could: l?e secur ed and demanded that, the game be played there. .' No satisfaction could be 'obl tajned from Davidson. The Dav idson management insistea on playing the) game at Davidson although the contraet stated pos itively that the game was to be played , in Charlotte. Finally Davidson refused to play in Char lotte and Carolina objected to playing Davidson. With that sit uation Dr. Reed Smith of the University faculty was sent to Davidson to find out why David son would not piy in C,arlottq, Dr. Smith skid yesteriday that he was received most cordially at Davidson.
