began his long term of service
under Richard T. Greener, at
that time the only negro on the
faculty of the college. Since that
year:he has been in 'the.- service
of the University. He was one of
the strongest advocates of- the
old college and when it was
transferred to a University his
-loyalty was unshakei- and-he-still
continued to labor' at. the library.
During his thne of service sev
eral men whose names have since
become famous have passed
through the portals of - the 'Uni
versity. Men who now represent
the'State in the Legislature and
in the.Seriate will -read- with sor,
row of the.death of this,. devoted
servitor of the University.
Student Body Sends Tribute.
The student body of the Uni
versity .in a meeting held Mon
day took up a collection for. the
purpose of-buying "Literwry"
Bob a floral tribute. A nice sum
was .collected and' a committee
consisting of Messrs. G. M.. Mc
Ieer and Wasldy Anderson were
appointed. to buy the tribute and
also to write a note to the be
reaved family,

have now pretty well in shape a
tennis club, which we hope. by
next spring, to have in good
