Y. M. C. A. Meeting
Wednesday Evening
Music by Mr. Whelden a Big

Mr. Montgomery, a Student Graduate
Addressed Large Audience.
The Y. M. C. A. held its first
meeting of the present session
last Wednesday at 7:45. The
meeting was well attended, the
audience was so large that all
could not find seats. Secretary
Guerrant expressed his deep ap
preciation of the manner in which
the fellows turned out.
The speaker of the evening
was Mr. Montgomery, a graduate
student at the university. The
c words upon which he talked were
C "Ye shall know the .truth and
the truth shall make you free."
N The speaker sa'd that Jesus Christ
was that truth and urged his
c hearers to seek that truth through
v Him.
15 Music is to be a spec'al feature
= of the Y. M. C. A. meetings this
year. Mr. Whilden, the sing;ng
leader of the city association, is
to lead the singing in all Wednes
(lay evening meetings. He was
presant at the last meeting
and the music was a decided
improvement over that of last
year.
There were at the meeting
mcmbers from various young
reoples' church organi;'ations of
the c'ty to invite the students to
join them.

The third and deciding debate
of the series between the univer
sity and Davidson college will be
held at the Presbyterian Female
College, Charlotte, N.C., Thanks
giving night, November 27. The
University will uphold the affirm
ative of the query: "RI,soLVIED,
That the Commission Plan of
Municipal Government Should be
Generally Adopted in the United
States." A number of men
have stated their intention to en
ter the debate.
. Any student is eligible who has
not received a degree or who is
not taking post graduate work,
provided he has not received pay
for public speaking.
