TENNIS TOURNAMENT
COMES TO UNIVERSITY
Southern Intercollegiate Ten
nis Meet Here Next Week.
Preliminaries Will Begin Monday
Morning at 10 O'clock on Uni
versity and Ridgewood Courts.
On Monday morning at t o o'clock
begins the Southern Intercollegiate
Tennis Tournament. The two newer
courts hack of Rutledge have under
gone thorough repairs. but are not
yet in condition for tournalient play.
Thursday at noon the court near Le
Conte college, on the corner of
Pendleton and 1Pickens streets, was
freely watered, re-marked and put in
splendid shape for the last doubhles
practice between \Varing and Cary
vs. Professors Davis and Easterling.
Two courts at Ridgewood Club are
available. ad one of these is the best
court ill the State.
Carolina's doubles entries will be
two teams: \\'aring and Cary; and
McCord ad I laniahan. I ler sin
gles players are to be AlcCord,
Cooper and \\.ring. The first
dobliles team has arranged a practice

An extra effort is being made to at

It is definitely known. however, that
Georgia will be represented by Good
wvn and Carter, NI,rth Carolina by

On Tuesday night at the Arcade a

Milton Adams Shuts Out
Baptists for Eight Innings.
Nine to Three Was Result of Hard
Fought Game on Davis Field.

Carolina romped on Wake Forest
Tuesday afternoon in a rather slow
and onc-sided mixul) with the final
score of 9 to 3. The Baptists showe(l
poor form for the first four innings
an(l let nine (Ganecocks make the
circuit before they tightened down.
At the beginning of the fifth, how
ever, they put in a new catcher and
got to work and no scores were
made from then on. The home
team shut out the visitors till the
ninth, when they got loose with three
hits that brought in a trio of runs.
Kid Adams pitched a steady game
for the Gamecocks, fielded well and
made a run. Fritz showed his usual
form behind the hat, got away with
three hits and romped across the
ruhher t wice. Rleddv swatted the
pill for a three-hagger and iianoue

well in center. Rudisill was strong
