FoSTER (Law)........Spartanburg Columbia, S. U., March 16, 1912. Carolina's Victories. Two wins by debating teams in one week is a fine and remarkable record. This is what the University of South Carolina can proudly boast of. On Monday evening at Rock Hill, the University debating team defeated Davidson College; on Sat urday night the University's repre sentatives came out of a contest with Trinity at Durham, N. C.. with the win on the University's side. The vote of the judges at Rock Hill was 4 to i ; at Durham, 2 to I. Debating is a new intercollegiate field for the University of South Carolina. The entry has been marked by signal success. Now, let's keep the good work up. Next year we will have other intercolle giate debates. It is, of course, im possible to do more than we have this year, namely, to win every de bate entered, but let's keep up the good record. The University's two teams de serve the congratulations of the entire student body for their excel lent work. They were fighting for Carolina and they won for Caro lina. They displayed that charac teristic of the University-fight and fight to win. The Baseball Schedule. The University of South Caro lina will open its baseball season of 1912 a week from Monday. playing Lafayette College of Easton, Pa., one of the big Eastern Colleges. Lafayette will also play here the next (lay. Lafayette will be follow ed by the Boston Nationals, who will be in Columbia for one game, and they will be followed by the Penn *State College team, which will be seen on Davis field April 3 and 4. At later dates Wake Forest, Davidson and the University of Tennessee will play on Davis field. The road schedule includes a num ber of prominent teams. It is tip to the men of Carolina to attend the g-ames in full force and enforce Carolina's already enviable record for hospitality. Let every member of the visiting teams know that we are glad to have them with us; give them a royal welcome and let each leave with the desire to come again. Now regarding those season tick ets ! There are men on the campus who have not purchased one. If you are not able, then you have an excuse; otherwise you have not. Teams can not be brought to Colum bia for a mere song, and the support of every one of the. four hundred and twenty-eight enrolled students is needed, and needed bad. We urge that all who have not done so sign up for a season ticket immediately. We want every man to attend every game. And when you get in the gate, don't think your duty has been performed. Open up and let it be known .that you are there. Root, that is the word, for with suc cessful rooting the team can do just that much better work. Southern College Press. The Southern College Press As sociation is fast rounding into exist ence. The committee on formation have been in correspondence with the eligible institutions and have secured the membership of enough to make the association a surety and a success. The initial convention will be held with the University of South Caro lina during the latter part of April. Let every man of Carolina do his best to make all the delegates feel at home and let each and every one know he is more than welcome with in the gates of our historic old insti tution. Woodrow Wilson League. The Woodrow Wilson League of College Men, the mother club of which is at the University of South Carolina, is making splendid prog ress. The number of institutions having clubs grows each day and it is expected that institutions in nearly every State in the Union will have them by the time of the Baltimore convention. "We Vant Wilson," is the slogan of the league. It is the object of the league to promote the candidacy of Gov. Wilson, and although a number of the members are not elig ib)le to vote in the next election, they can have an influence on some one that can cast his b)allot in favor of the New Jersey chief executive.
