BASEBALL SCHEDULE HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED List Shows Strong Teams to be Met, Both on Davis Field and on the Road. The baseball schedule for the University of South Carolina has been announced by A. H. Williams, manager of the team. The list shows some strong aggregations to be met, but with the excellent pros pects which are on Davis field, it looks as if no foe will be met but wlhat will be given a battle royal. May i-College of Charleston on campus. May 6-7-8-Auhurn on campus. SOPHOMORES ROMPED ON FRESHMEN NINE First Baseball Game of Season Went to Class of 1914 by Good, Big Score-The Line-Up. Tuesday afternoon in a rather slow game the Sophs. downed the first year men by a score of 14 to 4. Several sensational plays helped to hold the interest of the side-line sup porters. Considering the small amount of practice the men have been able to get, owing to the in clement weather, the teams made a creditable showing. Gage, for the Sophomores, showed that he had the goods, when in the first inning, with the bases full, he kept the Freshies from scoring. He )itched an excellent game, giving up only four hits. These came when he weakened. slightly in the last two innings. \Varing caught a consist ent game and by his superb pegging no less than three died at second while trying to purloin that coveted sack. Porter, Passailaigue and Mc Gowan also played a good game for the Sophs. Long, lanky John Mc Sween took them at all altitudes around first; his long hit to center field fence was one of the features of the game. For the Freshmen, Hurst, Lang ston and Levy did stellar work. A difficult catch by Langston in the eighth inning brought a thunder of applause from the grandstand and bleachers. P. 1T at Chapel T-Till SENIOR TEAM LOST TO FAST JUNIORS Grand Old Men Romped on to the Tune of 3 to 2-Soph-Junior Game This Afternoon. A slow game of baseball was seen on Davis field Thursday afternoon when the Juniors, by a score of 3 to 2, defeated the Seniors. Although the Juniors drew first blood when Mills scored, the Seniors, by good playing, were able to get two run ners across the plate. \Vith Gage pitching phenomenal ball, it seemed that the Seniors had the game sewed up, but in the eighth, with bases full, Maxwell threv wild to third, letting in a run. Owens' long hit to center brought in the winning score. The feature of the game was Moore's one-hand stab of a hot drive that looked good for a three bagger. For the Seniors, Woodrow, McMillan and Gage played good ball. For the Juniors, Owens, Moore and Mills were easily the stars. Owens was there with the big stick, rapping out no less than three safeties. From the showing made by the two teams it is safe to predict that Carolina will have the greatest aggregation of "Chicks" she has had in years. The Junior-Sophomore game will be played this afternoon. Batteries: Seniors, Gage and Max well; Juniors, Mills and Owen.
