GAILLARD HUNT SPOKE HERE TUESDAY Head of Congressional Library Heard at Noon-Introduced by Dr. James McBryde. Gaillard Hunt, head of the Con gressional Library, spoke to the stu dents of the University of South Carolina Tuesday at noon at th< chapel. Although at an hour incon venient to many, the hall was crowded to overflowing with peopl< eager to hear the distinguished vis itor. Mr. Hunt was introduced by Dr. Jas. McBryde, former presiden1 of the University and one of th< institution's most honored sons. Dr. McBryde did not make a long address in introducing Mr Hunt, but in a few concise remarks expressed his pleasure at once mor< being on familiar ground, where he went to school and where he was afterwards president. Mr. Hunt devoted the greater part of his address to George Wash ington. He drew a beautiful word picture of the great Washington. He said Washington was the only man who could have held the coun try together during that trying time. He told of the first president's many strong characteristics. Mr. Hunt's talk was not only instructive, but exceedingly entertaining. After the address the audience had the pleasure of greeting per sonally Dr. McBryde, Dr. E. S. Joynes and Mr. Hunt.
