The picture of the Columbia Club, composed of the University students residents of the city, was taken on the State house grounds Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The picture of the third term GAMECOCK staff was taken for The Garnet and Black Thursday after noon at Blanchard's studio. "Dutch" Passailaigue and "Frowsy" Graydon have returned from a week-end visit to Mr. Gray don's home in Abbeville. Red Edgerton, former star of the Davidson football team, and more recently coach of the College of Charleston, was a visitor to Colum bia this week. Rudolph Mobley, for three years a varsity football man here, and who is attending the Medical Col lege in Charleston, was a recent visitor to Columbia. Ralph McFaddin, better known as "Doc," and one of the best foot ball players that ever donned a uni form in this State, was in Columbia this week. Ted Dickson, of eccentric literary fame, formerly a student at Caro lina but who is now in the govern ment service in Panama, will, it is rumored, resume his studies here in a short time. W. H. McMurray spent the week end at Lancaster. le returned Mon day night. R. S. Weevil of New York City is the guest of Elmar and G. W. Waring at their home in Columbia. Quite a num1ber of the men of Caro lina have had the pleasure of meet ing Mr. Weevil. He will return to New York next week. S. Howard White, of Yorkville, a student at Erskine College, passed through the city Monday on his way home for a few days. C. E. Spencer, Jr., has returned from a week-end trip) to his home in Yorkville. Lunny of Darlington has retired from college. The men of Carolina will regret to hear that Mr. Lunny has dlecided to dliscontinue his studies here. "Red Wing" Todd of Laureps has retired from the University, leaving last week. "Red Wing" was well known on the campus andl the men will regret to hear that he has left colnee J. W. Wilbanks is at home sick. It is hoped that his speedy recovery will enable him to resume his work here. R. 0. Purdy is confined to his room, having contracted a severe cold. McDonald, Braley and Douglass spent the week-end at their homes. Mr. \Wallace Harris is spending the next ten days at his home in Greenville. The Dillon County Club was organized recently with the follow ing officers: President, Hoyt Wat son; vice-president, C. M. Webster; secretary, W. H. Edwards. The Spartanburg County Club was organized a few days ago and elected the following officers: Pres ident, L. K. Jennings; vice-presi dent, M. C. Foster; secretary, J. C. Wrightson; treasurer, J. F. Brooks. SOCIETY PROCEEDINGS. In the Euphradian hall tonight the programme is as follows: Read ers, Altman, Bull, Danner; declaim ers, Holman, Lancaster, Rogers; orator, Black; subject for extempo raneous speech, "The Garnet and Black."
