Among the personnel of the squad out this year are such men as: Capt. Whitner, a member of last year's 'Varsity ; Metts, the splendid punter of the 1910 team; Hoyt Watson, who received his letter last year; Clint Graydon, wvlho starred in the Clemson game of 1909; Woodrow, the gritty end, who wras a star in the Clemson game last year; Mace, end during the past two years. Other old men who are trying for positions this year are Dick, Kol lock, Sligh, C. E.; Stoney, A. B.; Harth, Chase, Brohun, Vandiver, Carpenter, Finklea, Girardeau, NVhite, Reeves and Waring. Two men wvho will add greatly to the strength of this year's 'Varsity are vonKolnitz, a star for the past two years on the College of Charleston eleven, and Passailaigue, one of the Citadel's standbys during last sea son and the season before. OPENING AT CAROLINA AN IMPRESSIVE EVENT (Continued from Page One.) of efficiency. No longer, stressed the speaker, is there a need for a South Carolinian to go to another State for an education. We are equipped at home. In addition to urging the develop ment of the mind, the speaker asked the upbuilding of character and the care of the body. His scholarly and appropriate defence of college ath letics was vivid and made a strong appeal to his hearers. Carolina was fortunate in the choice of the orator. It is every where evident that Mr. Smith has the thanks and best wishes of every member of the college community. CAROLINA Y. M. C. A. Under the leadership of Mr. A. H. Williams, the enrollment for Bible study is being pushed throughout this week.
