President Mitchell returned to the
city last Sunday from a trip to At
lanta, where he attended the South
ern Comnercial Congress. On his
return he stopped at Yorkville, mak
ing an address there.

Mr. James 0. Sheppard returned
to the campus last Tuesday morning
from a two days' visit at his home in
Edgefield. Many of the students
know that John Sheppard, graduate
of '09, is very ill and it is with sin
cere interest and deep concern that
his many friends at the University
hear news of him.

Mr. R. C. Hamer, formerly a stu
dent here, but now of Davidson Col
ege, was on the campus the 'early
part of this week.
Several score sons of Carolina en
joyed the concert at Columbia Col
lege last Monday night.
Tihe University was well repre
sent-ed Thursday night at the per
formance of Sarah Bernhardt, espe
cially in the peantt gallery.

First Baseman McSween was ex
cused from duty last Tuesday after
noon inl order to deliver a sermon at
the Green Street Metholdist church.
The team is fortunate in having a
preacher among its number, and we
are sure that his influence will be of
great benefit to the members.

Mr. Simeon I Hyde, of Charleston,
a junior law student at Washington
and Lee University, spent several
hours here Monday with his fellow
t6wnsnven from the "City by the
Sea."

We are glad to have back with us
Messrs. "Neps" McCrady and Dick
Reeves, who went home for a week
with attacks of la grippe.
