Carolina Literature before the Sum
ter County Teachers' Association on
Saturday, March 1. His subject was
"Novelists of South -.Carolina,' past
and ante-bellum.

Dr. Reed Smith gave his lecture on
"Tone Color in Words" during the
chapcl hour at C. F. W. on Thursday,
March 2. We are sure that this op
)ortunity was welcomed by the ladies
who were unable to attend the same
lecture in the University chapel on
February 16.
Mr. 11. S. Johnson, student secre
tary of the Young Men's Christian
Association for the Carolinas, was on
the campus Wednesday of this week.
Mr. Johnson is one of those workers
whom we are very fortunate in hav
ing with us from time to time.
On Friday, March 17, there will be
an exhibition at the Columbia the
atre given by the city Y. M. C. A.
The University Glee Club will take
)art in this exhibition.

lers played off the world's champion
ship in ladies' singles on the Pendle
ton street court last Tuesday morning.

Mr. R. M. Jeffries, of the class of
'W), is founder and editor of a newsy
little sheet of Ridgeland, S. C., known
as The Jasper Herald. The Iper is
a great credit to Mr. Jeffries, being
well balanced in every resi:ect. I ic

cries for "Better roads and school.
