CAMPUSGRAMS. Prof. W. K. Tate left Columbia Tuesday morning for Laurens county, where lie is spending several (lays vis iting the rural schools. Prof. Tate is expected back in the city by Saturday. * * * Dr. George A. Wauchope is unable to meet his classes, being confined to his study with a heavy cold. It is hoped that Dr. Wauchope will he well and out again inl a few days. Literary Societies. The literary societies will mcet Sat urday night for the first time in two weeks, having adjourned on -the 18th to appear that night at the State House, the occasion be-ng the meeting of the Legislature, at which time the question of a new chapel for the Uni versityN was being considered. Like wise, there was no meeting of either society on the 25th, because of the lec ture in the chapel by Mir. I'limpton. Much iiteiest, however. will center around the societies and the work for the remainder of the term as our most important contests-declaimers, ora tors and debaters-are to be held soon. The only contest for which the date has been fixed is the State oratorical contest at Greenwood, April 28. The gentlemen in the preliminary of March 24th are: l'uphradian: J. 0. Sheppard, A. H. Williams and R. S. Owvens. Clariosophic: J. ). Brandenburg, H. Watson and C. Gy. VychIe. Those to appear il the preliminary to tile Southern contest, this year to be held at the University of Virginia, are: Euphradian: Alan Johnstone and E. P. Guerard. Clariosophic: T. S.
