LAW ASSOCIATION.
The Law Association met onl
Wednesday evening, October 19th.
As there was no case on (locket for
this meeting, the association 'went
into the discussion of various qu-es
tions. Among the discussion was
a plan suggested by Mr. Etheredge,
which is in substance as follows:
That the Law Association recom
menl to the two law classes, to
adopt a rule of requiring members
of the different classes to arise when
reciting. This plan vould, of course,
also have to be sanctioned by the
law instructors before going into
effect. This plan, if adopted, would
naturally give to the law students
greater ease on their feet. which
would be of benefit to them in argu
ig a case in court.
c8 A committe was appointed to see
C3 about fixing up the association
room. The room as it now suands is
not suited for the purpose of coi
ducting a moot court, aid it is our
purpose to make it in appearance
ci more like that of a regular court
'4 room. The moot court is as impor
=:;; tant to the law students as the liter
ary society is to any other students.
Therefore, I see no reason why our
Law Association room should not
be fitted up equally in appearanlce as
those of the literary societies.
There is on docket for Weindes
day evening, October 26th. a crimi
inal case. T'hose appointed are:
Widemian and IHlutson for the prose
cution; Wise and Cordes for the
defense. There were several new
men to sign their names to the Con
stitution.
Heating Plant Progressing.
'The vork on the central lieating
plant is progressing in an almost
plhenomtienal fashion. Over on the
far corner of the Green, out of the
eye, the walls are rising rapidly. 'We
hear no racket, but the powerhotls
is rapidly on its way to completion
by a (late in Deceiber. At this time,
the contract stipulates, the housing
for the boilers must be complet.e
with the stack.
One of the walls will be left ihis
year unfinished to allow for eilarge
ment in the plant in later years.
However, sufficient apparatus will
be installed by next session to fur
ish heat. for Davis College, the
Science Hall, and the Tnfirmary.
This will be a great step) in adlvanice
of the stoves now semployedl ini these
b)uildlings, both ini comfort, janitor
service-saving, and in looks. A neat
radhiator is a dlistinct implrovement
above a rusty browvn stove with an
unsightly p)ipe.
Great for Dances.
The newv floor in the gymnasium
is going to be a swell thing for
dances. Not only has it great ex
panse, but th-e wood is heart maple,
and( the best of its kind.
The convenience of tile gym is
another feature. It is right here on
the campus, and thus the (lances andl
germans will become closer con
nleceor with the U niversity life.

Benefit Dance.
On next Monday night, October

As yet no appropriation of money

wait until the Legislature convenes
to secure money to equip the build

having a heniefit dance to secure
money to eqiuip the gym. the Ger

The admission price will be one
dollar. the dance begiming at 9
o'clock and extending until 12 or

Those who have seeii the new

is no better dancing floor in tle
State. It is coinstructed of -maple
and is being planled and sioothed
until it is perfect.
)avis' orclhestra will furnish tile

As it will be V air Week, there will
