ON THE CAMPUS.
Mr. John C. Sheppard, '09, has been
forced to resign his position as prin
cipal of the Bennettsville -igh School,
on account of ill health. Mr. Siep
pard passed through Columbia on
Monday on his way to his home in
Edgefield.
Mr. Halcott Poag spent several
(lays in the Infirmary the first of tho
week. ie went to his home in Rock
Hill on Tuesday still suffering from
an attack of grippe.
Mr. S. R. Latshaw has been forced
to withdraw from college on account
of ill health. We are sorry to see Mr.
Latshaw leave us, and hope he will
return next session.
Mr. R. Y. Garland has also with
drawn from college. Mr. Garland re
entered the second term, but has not
been in good health at all.
Mr. D. C. Heyward, Jr., of Charles
ton, has returned to college for the
remainder of the session.
A resolution was passed at a meeting
of the Junior Law class on Monday re
quiring all members of this class to
grow a moustache within one month,
a heavy fine being attached for failure
to comply with the terms of the reso

No meeting of the Law Association
was held this week, the meeting hav
ing been postponed until next week.
At a meeting of the Advisory Board
on WVednesday afternoon, Mr. P. L.
\Vright was elected as an assistant
manager of the baseball team.
Dr. litchell made the principal ad
dress in Hartsville Itesday on the oc
casion of the d(Ledication of the new
administration building of Coker Col
lege. The H artsville correspondent
to Tihe State had the following to say
of Dr. Alitchell's address:
"T'his distinguished educator de
lighted his hearers with ai inspiring
talk. Hle referred to the great work
being accomplished in the South along
all lines, touching on the value of the
common schools, the high schools, col
leges and the universities. Industries
of every order springing up on all
sides as a result of training received
his attention. Hle paid a beautiful
tribute to the Pee Dee section and to
Hartsville, and .laid great stress on the
farni and the farmer as being at the
foundation of Southern achievements.
Dr. Mitchell's address was a masterful
exposition of the best."
