LAW ASSOCIATION.,, The Law Association met Friday night for the first time in February. The meetings were suspended dur ing examinations, which will now give plave to cross-examinations. A civil case was on docket Friday, but,'owing to the absence of Profes sor Thomas, who was to preside at the hearing, it was postponed to the 25th inst. Very learned counsel has been retained in this cas-e, and a battle of the giants is expected No admission fees are charged. The following officers were elected for the next quarber: Chas. H. Salley, President. M. R. McDonald, Vice-President. W. B. Marion, Secretary and Treasurer. C. J. Gasque, Clerk of Moot Court. J. W. Wideman, Sheriff Moot Court. G. R. Pettigrew, Law Editor "Gamecock." They will ye sworn in at the next meeting. At a meeting of the Senior class Monday a resolution was adopted substituting a game of baseball be tween the two law classes for the mooted football gam-e which died of neglect last fall. A keg of beer will be the reward of the victors, but they will generously share it with the vanquished in accordance with time honored preoedent. Officers were elected as follows: Geo. W. Orr, Captain. Chas. A. Ashley, Manager. Jas. H. Hammond, Water-boy. Joseph Frombcrg, Janitor. Y. M. C. A. Notes. The work of the association was not suspended during examinations this year as has been the custom for the past two years. The Bible groups met each Sunday morn;ng at the usual time. The Sunday after noon services for the last three meet ings have been especially interest ing, for the speakers have been men of great personality. Mr. Lawson, of New York, addressed the Y. M. C. A. on February 6th. He is a i-ember of the National Committee on Y. M. C. A. work, and a more forceful speaker, it has not been our privilege to hear in quite a while. On February 13th Rev. W. H1. Greever, D. D., of Columbia, ad dIressed the association on "The Futupe Perils in the Christian World." Mr. Greever made nlo at temp)t at oratory, but in a quiet, con versational way, spoke to uts as friend with friend. Last Sunday Mr. Guy V. Aldrich, of New York, made an add(ress on the urgent need-, for more college m'en in the foreign fields. Mr. Aldrich was Student Secretary at the University of Penn sylvania for two years, but he is now a volunteer for the foreign work, and his message was dlelivered in a masterly way. We applreciated Mr. Aldrich's visit very much, for he helped us to decide on a suitable text-book for our mission study class. wvhich we are jus organi.ing. and, also aided us in getting addi tional members to take up the work. Mr. Hutchinson, a student in the Presbyterian Seminary,- has prom ised to lead the class, and the mem bers of the class will meet this week in order to make further arrange ments. If there is any one whom we have not seen that would like to join us in the study of South America, not as a volunteer or any thing of the kind, but as one who vishes to'get in touch with what is going on in the world, i. e., as a mat ter of general information, you would do well to see Mr. E. N. Carnes or Mr. H. C. Ritter at once. We hope to be able to give some thing more definite in regard to this work in the next issue. Our association was repres#ented at the recent convention held at Greenville by Messrs. W. H. John ston and A. L. Latshaw. One of these gentlemen has favored us with a brief report of that meeting, which will be printed next week. -NOTCH 'BELMONT The "Ara-Notch" makes the "Delmont" ARROW COLLAR Sit Perfectly 15c.2fo,r25c.
