This book should prove very interesting for us all as it will contain the ad dresses made by such representative men as Ambassador Brice, Robert E. Speer, and numbers of others. Professor Moore called our atten ition to the -fact that numbers of Northern colleges, the smaller as well as the larger institutions, have representatives in the foreign mis sion field. As high as two hundred men have thus been sent out by dif ferent institutions. Some of these colleges are now supporting one or more missionaries, or are establish ing mission stations. Some smaller institutions, with an enrollment of only about one hundred and seventy five men, are now' supporting their own missionary. Professor Moore called our attention to the fac: that he saw no record at this conference showing what the University of South Carolina had done in this re spect. He knows of only one grad u late of the University who ever undertook mission work. This is rather a startling fact, and one which should cause us to think. We hope that this matter will not be dropped here, but that as a result a keener and deeper interest in missions will ~3 be aroused in us, and that the true C3 mission spirit will take hold of the student body. Professor Moore closed his talk by the statement that it vas an op -portunity to have the privilege to enlist in the volunteer movement. The Orient presents great opportu nities to men in all professions and vocations in life. The engineer, and scientist, and doctor are needed in these countries just as truly as are the preachers. As all of us wish to use our lives where they will yield the largest return, let us carefully consider the opportunities that the Orient presents to us. Let us take our part in the advancement of God's kingdom; yea, in the evangelization of the vorld "inl the present genera tion." A business meeting of the associ ation was called immediately after the disnissal. It was decided, in order to increase the present interest in missions, to organize a mission study class. This class should prove a very instructive and helpful one. Anyone desiring to join this class may get further information about it from Mr. M. M. Rector, Chairman of the Bible Study Committee. Coker, an alumnus of this institu tion, from Darlington county, wvho gave a short account of the life of Mr. McIver Williamston, the win ner of the McMaster alumni medal. Mr. Coker is one of our most dis tinguishedl alumni, nde it was a pleasure and a pride for the friends of the University to see his interest shown in his ala mater. Major Coker then, with a few ap propriate remarks, delivered the medal to Mr. Williamston, who re plied, thanking his alma mater in a few apt remarks. This medal is the one given by Mr. IP. H. McMaster for the alumni rendering most signal service to mankind. It is indeed an honor to win this medal at any time, but how great is the honor of being the first winner. After these exercises the alumni gave a delightful smoker in the rooms of the Metropolitan Club. This closed one of the greatest (lays in the history of the University. Law Association.. This case was to have come off last Friday, but its postponement will, no doubt, be of great value to the attorneys concerned, as they will have additional time in which to pre pare invincible arguments to hurl at each other. It is only a short time before the junior election of the association will be held. After that election all the officers will be Juniors, and they will also be put on duty in Moot Court. Then they will have an opportunity to display the knowledge they are supposed to have acquired during the previous part of the year, and combat, in wit and word, at least, with the worthy Seniors. The association is filled with the deepest regret over Professor Moore's illness, and it is the earnest desire and sincerest hope of each and every member, that he may soon be restored to health. His mature wis dom, his great dignity and his gentle courtesy has won both the respect and the affection of the entire Uni Versity. A Dance at Craven Hall. Upon Friday night at Craven Hall a dance will be given as the last of college festivities before exams. The management has secured the services of an excellent band, and it is useless to say that a great time is anticipated. A large crowd is as sure(d, and refreshments (?) will be served.
