Gamecock German Great Success. (Continued fron Page One.) running expense of the paper, and it is always looked forward to with great interest by all. The hall was beauti fully decorated for the occasion with streamers and pennants, artistically ar range(d by the foremost artists in this city. The music was furnished by tle Co lumbia Orchestra and delighted all present. The graceful couples glided about the floor until twelve o'clock, when a delightful course supper was served. The menu was one of the most appetizing that has ever tempted the palate of mortals. After spending an hour over the dainty dishes, the couples again put themselves to danc ing, and continued until the wee small hours of the morning. The souvenirs, small gamecocks, were drawn from a common bag and distributed among the guests, each be ing attached by garnet and black rib bon. The young men were all dressed in conventional evening clothes, and the ladies' costumes are given below. This dance is, and ever will be , we hope, the central social event in our college life. Among those present were, chape rones, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Moore, Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Latimer. The dancers were: Mr. J. D. Lee, with Miss Blalock; Mr. J. S. Hocy, with Miss Annie Holt, of Alabama; Mr. Edward Finley, with Miss Ethel Mim naugh; Mr. J. H. Cooper, with Miss Annice Lowry; Mr. F. S. Spiegner, with Miss Olive Robertson ; Mr. Paul Cooper, with Miss Pamella Moore; Mr. A. V. Lewis, with Miss Julia Mil Icr; Mr. Robin Jones, with Miss David, of Florence ; Mr. J. 0. Shep pard, with Miss Raven Simkins; Mr. Preston Lyles, with Miss Ethel Willis; Mr. William Haynesworth, with Miss Jones; Mr. W. B. Burney, with Miss Conners Melton; Mr. \V. C. McGow an and Mr. Tom Stoney, with Miss DuBose, of Sewanee. Stags, C. E. Sligh, Beverley, Arnette, Peterkin, H-. Green, Thomas Adams, L. Murry, WN. The costumes were the most charm ing, we venture to say, that have ever graced a dance in this State. Miss Pamella Moore wore a white messelaine a ]a Paris, with decollete old lace collar. Diamonds and lilies of the valley. Miss Annie Holt was gowned in a charming yellow satin a l'empire ; (ia miondls andl carnations. Miss Ethel Mimnaugh lookcd charming in a corn color crepe metiere wvith jet trimmings. Wore diamionds and carried American beauties. Miss Olive Robertson dlancedl in a burnt violet net over white satin, trimmed in lavender p)earls, with a beauti ful corsage boiuquet of violets. Prominent among her jewecls wvas a dhiamondl tiara (a gift of (lie groom). Violets. Miss Conners Melton, pink satin with gold trimmings. Old family jew els, aind carried 'American beauty r.oses. .Miss Annice ILowry had on a beau tiful old rose messlne, trim.md in pastel passementerie and rose point lace. Corals and coral orchids. Miss Minnie Blalock was indeed beautiful in a blue (lot net gown over peau de soic, with satin border; wore sapphires and carried lilies of the val ley and orchids. Miss Jones wore pale blue crepe de chine with old French lace; diamonds and carnations. Miss Julia Miller, a charming white silk a la princess, with spangles, pearls and-white roses. Miss Willis was gowned in a dc light ful creation of peau de soie, cut on the bias, trimmed in applique and beautiful silver ringlets, the gift of v wealthy miner. Beautiful black pear and roses. Miss David, a debutante, was quit( appropriate in a delightful white crept de chine, with old lace; pearls ati white roses. Miss Dulose, an attractive visitor. was lovely in a yellow point d'espril trimmed in old lace and wearing price less family jewels; carnations. Football Season Formally Closed. The subject, Re solved, That the ends of justice call for a revision of the laws relating to the empanelling of juries in Soutli Carolina is one that is of peculiar in terest now.
