Dr. Mitchell took up the threads of his last talk, and in his usual attractive style, traced the rise of Italy to its final position as a nation. This lecture, the title of %Aich was "Garibaldi-Knight-errant of the Nineteenth Century," completed the discussion concerning the Unifica tion of Italy. Hereafter until May, these lectures will be given every Thursday evening iii the college chapel. There will be no charges whatever, and the public is cordially invited to attend. This feature of the Univer sity work promises to play an impor tant part in the cultural education of both students and outsiders. The scope of the work is large and the course will be highly instructive as well as entertaining to everyone. The following are the subjects of some'of the lectures to be given: Subject: The Unification of Italy, by President S. C. Mitchell. Lecture 1. November 11, Mazzini -The Prophet of the Nineteenth Cen tury. Lecture 2, November 18, Garibaldi -The Knight-errant of the Nineteenth Century. * Subject: The English Language, by Prof. H. C. Davis. Erwin, Clemson; Secrctary, Darby Fulton, Clinton; Treasurer, W. R. Taylor, Erskine. College Girls.
