In order that the public may under-1 stand the reply of Mr. Jackson, county supervisor of registration, we republish the questions asked him previously: We will ask the supervisor ?f registration a few questions, only in reference to him and his own books: Do you regard your own books free from error or irregularity of all kind? If 30, how do you explain the numbers being wrong, or the residence or occupation not agreeing as was the case with a certain number of them, according to the verdict of managers on elec tion day? Whose fault is it that the managers did not have all the books on election da> ? Was it by your official act that voh delivered books as late as ten or halfpast ten ? When did you ascertain that managers did not have these books, and from whom? mr. jackson's answers. 2?r. Editor: I will try and answer your questions in your Weekly of the 21st in the order asked: 1. My oicn work on the registration books I do regard as correct. I gave as the names were siven me. Some came back with the name, initials, age or residence wrong foxcorrection. There may possibly be some more of this kind. As to the old work on the books, done before '91s I do not believe them correct. As loug as since '86 and ?S8 I heard managers complain of names being hard to find, and some who held certificates their names could not be found. But I am not responsible for this. 2. I d? not know, but think it an oversight on the managers' part. For some of the precincts there are two books each, others only one. There are Iwo for both of tho "Winnsboro boxes. They got one each. 3. It was not, as I had officiatly delivered them one wrrk before. 4. The mornii'u oi the election, cannot say at wiut hour, I accidentally found out that ihev did not have all the books, and I at cncs put them iu their hauds. No one told me anything of it.
