ti*n Called for Action-?The Party's j
Name Will l>e, "The National Union |
Party of America.*'
0<;a la, Fla., Dec. 4 ?Glimpses uf a I
third party movement appear at the I
Alliance Convention to-day.
It is ehicliy agitated by the Kansas
tit-legation. Gen'l .John il. liice, can- j
didatc fur the Kansas Senatorship assisted
by Capt. liners, of Indiana, is ;
drawing up a call to be issued to the j
Farm#rs? Alliance and all industrial
uni?ns of America, which favor the
principles of the St. Louis platform,
t? meet in convention in Cincinnati on
the 23rd of next February, to consider
the third party or people's party more-1
incut.
The name of thi* new party will be
the "National Cnion party of America."
This call is not expected to be issued
until the dose of Ocala conrention.
The eftort seems to be to keep the
National Farmers' Alliance from inaugurating
the new party, and yet to
ttiake it the main basis of the new national
party.
The morning session of the convention
was deroted to the reading of Ireports
of officers. The national secretary's
report made a good showing, and
the committee# are progressing well in
the deliberations.
~ ~ - 1
The colored, delegate? were receiveu
in the ivhite convention at noon, and
were greeted with fraternal expressions
of hope and good feeling. The
visit was one of fraternal greetings
aud introductions, and speeches were
made en both sides.
