Columbia, December 3.?Very little

adjdurned Friday afternoon to

A huge stand is being erected in
t'rnnt of the State House for the grand
"gubernatoiial inauguration," which
comes off to-morrow. The city, we
have no doubt, will be crowded to
overflowing.
Present indications point to the ousting
of our "noble Hampton." Who
would have thought the chivalrous
State of South Carolina would so soon
forget thb services of one who led ua
through the dark days of '7G and
buried, never to be resurrected, the
Radical party in our beloved Stale!

Palmetto would follow the example of
our fcistcr State?, Georgia and Alabama,
who have so nobly discharged
their daty and shown their appreciation
of thfi services of their ?sl!ant
sons, Gordon and Pugh. We believe
the "Old North State" will do likewise
by showing to the world her appreciation
of the services of her favoiite son
"Zeb" by returning him to the position
he has so well tilled. "So mote
