Since the Ohio election, wi ll its
lessons on prohibition, the saloon
keepers are the genuine pels of loth

Much of the trade which \va* former

store at Dawkins Station, and Messrs.
Craig & Youngincr have also estab

of cotton have been shipped from
Dawkins, and a greater part of bints
passed through the hands of the above-
named gentlemen. The lack of com
petition is felt in the sale of cotton
ollored at tin* point. These firms buy
large quantities of cotton seed for the
oil mills. Prices in this commodity
are better, comparatively, than in the
lint, as the farmers arc beginning to
realize the value of the seed as a fer

This community is by no means

woes upoiryour readers.
Ye oldesto iuhabitante sayeth that
tins hath been the hardest year on the
farmer which has come within his ken
during a long and eventful oamr.
The colton crop is variously estimated,
some thinking that a little under a half
lias been nfiwlo, others that a half crop
lias been made. None arc willing to
go over the half crop. Corn will give
about a half crop. Nearly all of the
cotton has been harvested and vAhs-
fenvd to the lien merchants, and after
all has beon gathered and given up the
farmers will “lack a good many dol
lars of having a cent” for tin ir labor.
This is one of the blessings (?) which
the Lien Law brings the farmer.' If
he lived to the age of M Ahustdah and
served as faithfully as did Jacob for
Rachel, the farmer at the end of each
year would still find himself in debt
fected in time to gather tliis crop.
Your correspondent waited anxiously
