Chester Aglow.—A special dis
patch to the 2fews and Courier, of the
17th inst., concerning the Fair now iu
progress in Chester, says of the iiy,c
stock exhibit: “The entries in this dd-
partment Jiave not ail been made, but
there is already quite a creditably dis
play of horses, cows, sheep and hogs.
Thyrc are quite a number of blooded
mares, stallions and iiiuics on exhibi
tion by Mr. Turner, of Fairfield, who
has also a fine lot of Jerseys and Ayr-
shires. The sheep display is very fine,
most of the well known breeds being
represented. The Chester White hogs
of Mr. Withers, Hie Poland China pigs
of Moses Benson are line specimens of
their respective breeds. The poultry
department is also very interesting and
the number of entries is very great.”
Of the ladies’ part in..the affair, it says:
“The ladies, too, as well as the men,
bear an.important part in contributing
to the success of the Fair. They pre
sent as memorials of their handiwork
some of the most interesting articles
on exhibition, jellies, preserves, cakes,
wines; in fact, everything in the culi

of our housewives, while the neoUlii-

forcible manner of the industry of our j bo’tl
young ladies. The fancy work is in no discount on the wool—It’s
