—The Rev. Geo. A. Trenhohu has
declined the call to the pastorate of the
Presbyterian church at Chester. His
congregation, the Second Presbyteiian
church of East Nashville, refuses to
release him. .• .
—Mr. U. G. Desportes is about to
make qbite an improvement in his
store at the corner of Congress and
College streets. He will extend the
building eastward twenty feet, making
it eighty feet in length. He, intends
<o enlarge his grocery business.
—The office of the Southern Tele
graph Company at this place is now

well-known operator, Mr. S. K. Mc-
Donald. The wires were attached on

Among the Justices.—The case of
the State vs. Burt Sims, on the charge
of having committed a breach of the
peace, was tried before Justice Catli-
carton Thursday. Tlie defendant was
found guilty and sentenced to pay a
fine of one dollar and costs or be con
fined in the county jail for ten days.
The fine and costs were paid and the
defendant was discharged.
