The following is the presentment of
the grand ju ry for the Juno term':,,
To His Honor, J. H. Hudson, Pre-
sidinu Judge: The grand jury in and
for the said State and county beg
leave to report that we. have made an
examination of the public offices apd
of tho^ounty jail, finding them all jn
good condition, ueatly and properly
kept. As to the poor house, haying
so recently, visited die same, and find
ing that' the recommendations of the.
grand jury at the last term of Cou^t
had been fully complied with, we haye
concluded that it was unnecessary fof
a committee of our number to’visjft
that institntiqu at present. Detween
this time, however, and the next terip
of Court we will visit th.e satho and
will thpn .make a more elaborate re-
portjtqbching matters relating thereto.
The public highways throughout the
county, so far as we have been abjc to
learn, are probably in as good condi
tion us circumstances wjll admit. We
desire, however, to call attention again
to that portion of Urn Rocky Mount
road from the town o'f wiiiusboro to
the five-mile post on said road, and
also to the fact that this piece of . road
has been noticed by tliis as well as by
other grand 'juries before, and has
been but pooily attended to. An-
otlicr, mutter which appears to ns to
be worthy of notice in this connection,
is the fact that since the adoption of
the “no-fence law,” planters Are in
clined to throw old rails, trash, etc., in
the road. We urge that the road be
more, particularly looked alter in the
future.
We would, also call attention to the
matter of the boundary line between

Brecejjtress to be an adept in such ex

noticeable fact that old grew young
again. Wp were highly entertained
with sweet music, both instrumental
and vocal. The place of meeting was
