rather light. The cold and subsequent

rain fell, both injured and retarded the
growing crops and further planting.

an eight-foot passage way on the first
and the second floor, with a portico

above. The honse is splendidly adapt
ed to the purposes intended, and the
location quite salubrious and beautiful.

nish facilities for a first-class school

I. The Chief tfi the Fire Department
shall have general supervisory control of
the Department at all times; and at fires
he shall have absolute command and direc
tion of the same, and on such occasions is
hereby invested with full police powers.
All orders of the Chltof Shall be capufiimi-

different companies at fires, either in per
son or through the Assistant Chief, or such
other person as he itoty designate. In cas6
