The proceedings in the Georgia
Democratic State Convention’on Wed
nesday were quite exciting, though en
tirely free from bitterness. There
were twelve ballots on that day, the
last standirlg ns follows: Bacon, 155;
Boynton, 148; McDaniel, 81; Cooky
15. The Convention theh’ adjourned.
On Thursday, after a lengthy discus-
sion, a special committee of eighteen
was appointed to endeavor to effect a
compromise. The committee immedi
ately entered upon its work. The
committee retired at 12 m., and after
remaining out till 6 p. m. returned and
recommended Henry D. McDaniel, of
Walton eouhty, w-ho was nominated
by acolamatibn amid the wildest en
thusiasm. He was conducted into the
