At the conference union lner asked reconsideration of their request of last July that a 12 1-2 per cent wage reduction granted by the labor bojrd be not put into effect im:ie diately, that ng further wage reduc tions be sought at present and that no change be made in the overtime pay rates. This request was refused and the rail heads presented their statement announcing the proposal to seek new reductions and not to re duce rates until further reductions were granted.. Labor leaders left the conference immediately and few of them would discuss its proceedings or predict the results. 375,370 Freigbt Cars Are Idle. Washington.-Idle freight cars on American rallroads numbered 375,370 on October 1, 39,328 less than on Sep tember 23 and materially less than on any recent reporting date, accord ing to a report by the Association of Railway Executives. Of the total sur plus cars, 202,950 were in need of re pairs. Hightower was found guilty Thursday of first degree murder with a recom mendation of. life imprisonment by the jury in the ease in which he was charged with the murder of Father Patrick E.
