Dinner or supper at 25 cents. Oysters the same. -The ladies of the Episcopal church will give an entertainment at the Colonial Inn on Friday evening, Dec. 28th. The pity is that there are not enoug houses to supply the demand i-~ homnes. -Miss Kate Mellichamp, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. John H. McMaster has returned to her home at Ridgeway. She was accompanied by Master John H., Jr. -Mr. D. H. Wise of Aiken was here Monday to make the annual settlement for the comptroller general with Treasurer Scruggs. Everything was found in good shape.. -Mt. Zion closed yesterday for the holidays. The next session will begin Jan. 2, 1907. Messrs Thornwell and Fulp will spend their holidays at their home at Fort Mill. -"Books are to the mind what meat is to the body", so come to the play ''Tables Turned,'' which is to be given by the pupils of Mt. Zion for the benefit of - their library, which is in need of some new books. -Mrs. Neil Pressly and daugh ter, Miss Jannie Rosborough and Rev. Grier Pressly and wife,. left last week for Tampico, Mexico. Rev, and Mrs. Grier Pressly will stay two mionths with Rev, and Mrs. Neil Pressly, -Mr. L. A. Bye with hhi family will move to Rion this week where Mr. Bye is empolyed. It is with much regret that we . give up such people who by theii good deeds and cheerful mannei help to brighten our town. *.. --Mr. Robt. N. McClure died~ at the~ home of his brother-in-law, Mr. W. M. Gladden, in Richland Monday, Dec. 9th. He w a about 50 years of age. He left children. C. Beaty's last Thursda3 evening. A very pleasant time was spent over a delightful supper and much interest was taken in opening the mite boxes. About $25 was collected. -Capt. T. M. Jordan has now taken charge of the office o f superintendent of education. Mr. D. L. Stevenson leaves the school affairs of the county in g o o d shape, far better than they were when he first took charge of the office. He will for the present travel for the Caldwell Cotton Planter, a machine of unequalled merit that is meeting with great popularity, as evidenced by -in creased sales. Maro, The Magician. Maro, the magician, and his saxophone quartet, who have been engaged for an entertain ment in Winnsboro are to be here on the night of February 1. This is perhaps the greatest attraction ever brought to Winnsboro and it should be most liberally pat ronized. For Lebanon School. On Friday evening Dec. 21, the pupils of Lebanon Graded School, will give an entertain ment beginning at eight o'clock. A small admission fee will be charged. R. F. D. Carriers To Organize. There will be a meeting of the R. F. D. Carriers of Fairfield County at the Court ,house, of Winnsboro, Jan. 1st, 1907, at 10:30 o'clock for the purpose of or ganizing a county association. Fir. Baker to Wed. This evening at her home in amden, Miss Deas Lang will :ecome the wife of Prof. IL. T. Baker, of the Uuiversity of South~ arolina. Ntiss Lang is well known in Wiznsboro, where she as visited several times within the past few years, having made many friends here, by her most pleasing manner and charming personality. Mr. Baker was for three years superintendent of Mt. Zion and is one of the most progressive and well equipped young men in the teaching profession in the state. He is very popular and his friends congratulate him on his good fortune. Mr. and Mrs. Baker will leave at once for an extended trip to Washington and other points north. For Over Sixty Years. MRs.
