Mr. f Bridgman is giving only a part of his time to this work, as he is now- a student at the Theological -Seminary in Columbia. r -The funeral services of Miss Sarah Beaty were held. at the Presbyterian church Wedaesday - morning at 10 o'clock and the interment was immediately after in the charch yard. The pall bearers were: H. W. Hanaban, ' Thos. Jordan, E. P. Matthews, R. E. Caldwell, R. S. Ketchin, and Dr. D. Aiken. Goza of Norway has just been received here by a friel. Capt. Goza was koocked off his lever car a few days ago. He was brought to the hospital in Columbia, wbeie he died, and was buried at Irm o, in Lexingtoa county, the home of his wife's parents. He leaves a wife and several children. He was section master at White Oak for several years and was loved and esteemed by all whbo knew him. Ofr J. L. Pettigrew. e Sunday's State contained a dispatch from Bristol, Tenn, announcing the death there on the day before of Mr. A. R. Petti rew, was a native of Fairfield county and who lived here till ( some years ago, when he- moved s to Tennessee. Two brothers I survive him, W. T. Pettigrew of Chanie and G. B. Pettigrew of Columbia. His wife died about one year ago. MilMiss Itaslha Newman has arrived and will take charge of the m'llinery department of Mrs. J. L. Richmond. She is an ex perienced milliner.' Mrs. Rich mod has a very attractive dis play of nmillinery and will be pleased to have her friends call to see her before buying. She is in the cozy little rcom next to G. A. White. A Beloved Pastor Passes Away. AL his home in Spartanburg Saturday after months of suffer ing Rev. W. A. Rogers breathed 1 his last. On account of failing health he had not been in the active ministry for several years past, though in that time he has done good service for his church as financial agent of his alma mater, Wofford College, and as assistant editor of the Southern Christian Advocate.. Mr. Rogers was 57 vears old, and one of his first charges was the Winnsbor o Methodist charch. He was a most useful man to his church and one of the best beloved pas tors in the whole connection. A ngood true man has gone to his reward and the number, who are -sorely bereaved by the departure of this close friend, are legion -throughout this state, not only in Shis own church, but in other Schrches a.s well.
