McDonald, Esq., is ia Virginia on professional business. -Miss May Ketehin is at home for the summer from Lumberton, N. C. -Miss Hattie Vernon of Well ford is the guest of Mrs. J. E. Coan. -Mrs. Jno. Oneal and children of Rock Hill are visiting relatives here. -Mr. C. H. Gaskey of Laurens spent Sunday with Rev. Henry Stokes. -Miss Mary Love of Rock Hill is the guest of Miss Annie McKeown. -Miss Alice Walker has re turned from Orangeburg where she has been visiting for several weeks. -Miss Eller. I-The Winnsboro nine did not fare so well in their game of ball at Chester Thursday afternoon as the score was 4 to 1 against them. - -Miss A4nnie Belle Stewart of Tampa, Pla., and Bese Bar ron of Rock Hill were here to attend the Miller-Jordan wedding. -Mr. J. C. Caldwell and grand son, M'r. Joe Caldwell, left Friday morning for Stearns, N. C, to spend a few weeks with Mrs. M. W. Doty. -Mrs. J. I. McFadden and children, after spending several weeks with her mother, Mrs. M. E. Eitgreaves, have returned to their home near .Rock Hill. -The auditor of Fairfield was not one of the 14 auditors who failed to have their abstracts with the comptroller gerneral at the time required by law. -Misses Sara Beaty, Louise Sitgr.aves and Rebecca Hanahan, after a two weeks' visit to Mrs. M. W, Doty a.t Stearns, N. C., have returned home. -Mis. J. W. Mayo is on a visit to her parents, Capt. and Mrs. T. J. Cureton. Don't stand in your own light, but be on hand. -Rev. J. R. Millard and family, of Fairfield county, came Friday and Mrs. M. E. Elliott and daugh ter, Miss Mamie, arrived Satur day afternoon to spend several weeks at the old Elliott home on West End street. -The Commercial Club will have the formal opening of its rooms on the evening of the 31st, when they will tender a reception to their lady friends. The rooms of the club are open every Thurs day afternoon for all lady visitors. -Friends here have received invitations to the marriage of Gen. Thomas Ross Robertson of Char lotte to Miss Gene Clarkson, which happy event will take place at the bride's home at Hay Mar. ket, Va., August 7. -The farmers' institute nexi Monday should be largely at tended. It will be worth youi while to ride miles to see the Clemson exhibition car which will add so much to the interest o these exercises. -Mr. K. R. McMaster lefi Thursday for Charleston where he was to spend a few days with friends before taking the boat for New York. He will spend seve ral weeks at Atlantic City. Mr. and Mrs. J. A.
