Gooding delightfully en tertained a few friends at tea. The card club Wednesday afternoon had a most delightful meeting at the home of Mrs. J. W. Cathcart. Thursday evening Mr. and s Mrs. L. A. Bye gave a most charming party at their home in r honor of Mrs. Bye's sister, Miss r Connell, who has been made many L friends during her stay here. Friday afternoon Miss Isabel Pixley gave an informal, but delightful card party to a few friends. Arranging for the Veterans. The Daughters are going right ahead with their preparations for Memorial Day and it is pretty certain that they are going to make it a memorable occasion in the life of every old veteran. A joint committee of twelve ladies r and twelve men met Monday . afternoon to complete the details., fThe veterans will be enter-, taned in the homes of the town, on the night before and on that day will be given a big barbecue dinner, which will be served in the DesPortes store on Congress street. The committee of twelve ladies who will have charge of . the dinner will be assisted by the - following men: J. E. Coan, W. R. - Rabb, J. W. Seigler, C. A. Steven . son, S. C. Johnston. These will e act as a committee on entertain ment: W. C. Boyd, M, W. Doty, G. B. McMaster, R. C. Gooding, J. F. Fooshe. A very important committee, and one that surely should be e warmly welcomed wherever they , go, is the one appointed to raise a funds. It consists of the follow ing ladies: Mesdames U. G.
