fiossy Dlade Itoms.~
The seven weeks drought has
at last been broken. Old corn is
very unpromising, the forage crops
have done but little good, but
the pea crop .may make up the
deficiency. Cotton is improving,
though it is late and is fruiting
slowly. It will require a late
fall to make a favorablo crop.
Gardens are a failure, fruit and
melon crops poor.
I am glad to learn that a chap
ter of the daughters of the Con
federacy is to be organized in
Winnsboro. Why not acamp of
the Sons of Veterans also. I
would liks to see more interest
manifested in the veterans in this
old county. It will not be long
before the old Vets will all be
camping beyond the shade.
The health of this community
is good.
We hope the fiarmers esitu~te
will be weni 4tteuded, for they are
very instructive and should be
well patronized.
