The suggestion made in these
columns some weeks ago that a
chapter of the Daughters of the
Confederacy be organized in
Winnsboro is to be carried out.
A meeting of all the ladies inter
ested in organizing a chapter of
this worthy organization here is
called for to-morrow, Thursday
afternoon, at the home of Mrs.
Geo. H. McMaster, at 6 o'clock.
The simple announcement of'
what this meeting is called for
should be enough of itself to get
out a full attendance of the ladies
of town who never tire of honor

Still Reading.
The books of the librarian of~
the public library show that it is
still filling a real want in this,
community. The number of~
books taken out during May was
274; the number for June was 216.1
This is a fine reading record in'
consideration of the hot weather,
which always effects a reduction
in reading.
