Nitrogen is the most valuable
of all fertilizing properties
There is no cheaper way to seen'e
it than by extracting it from the
air. This the pea will sure7Y do.
So the best way to' secure this
fertilizer is by sowing sfn abun
dance of peas. Don't fail to sow
peas.
In this issu we rint the last
installment of Mr. Ford's history
of Rocky Mount and vicinity.
Much valuable history has been
broug~ht out in these papers and
Mr. Ford has the thanks of the
whole county for his effort tc
preserve the history of one of its
most favored sections. Wo have
had frequent assurances thai
these papers have been enjoyed
and it is to be hoped that the
good example set by Mr. Ford
will be followed by others. It is
always a pleasure for us to pub'
lish any information in regard it
the history of this couty. Ii
this connection we beg to say
that we shall' begin nex1
week the republication o:
Mr. McCreight,s history of Mt
Zion Institute, which was pub.
lished in these columns in 1868
We have frequently referred t<
the fact that there is a constan1
demand in Winnsboro for houses
Every year for several years pas'
there has been a steady demanc
during the fall months for houses
It has not infrequently happenec
that parties prospecting for busi
ness here have had to go elsQ
where because they could nol
get a suitable honse. It is als<
true that in a number of instancei
two families ha~ve had to take a
house together, because they
could not make a more satisfac.
tory arrangement. This con
dition of things ought not tc
exist, this need for houses should
be supplied; and in view of the
fact that the price of rent has
gradually advanced for the pasl
year or two, it is now a good
business proposition to invest ir
houses for rent.
The mother of invention is
quite often just a wicked and
frivolous desire to fib and fool
