Quite a large party of the young ladies of Winnsboro leaeve this afternoon for a trip to Europe. The party will leave from "Fair view Hall" at 5.30. At about eleven o'clock Thurs ay it was learned in town that the night before at about the same hour Mr. E. D. Mobley of Black stock had been found in his well. he report at first was that he was dead, but a later investiga ion disclosed the fact that, though badly bruised by the fall, e was still alive, conscious, and that hopes of his recovery were being entertained. We have no information as to the occurrence. We join the many friends of Mr. Mobley in sympathy for him and the hopes for his speedy recovery. Mr. Moblev is one of the ounty's best citizens, and a reat interest in him has been anifested by a large number. Mr. D. A. Crawford and his wife, a daughter of Mr. Mobley's, went t once to Lackstock. NOTES ABOUT THE COLORED PEOPLE. Master Frank Gladney has re urned to school to resume his studies after a week's illness from the grip. Mr. C. F. Ford is taking a course n music. The rally at Zion- church and the "cross"-unveiling" will take place Sunday, April 28, at which time the pastor and members, with help from the public, hope to raise $75. The windows of St. James' have been painted red, white and blue, with religious mottoes on them. Mr. Frank Caison, of White ak, died after a brief illness. He was a good man, and left a large family to mourn his loss. He died a righteous death. A wild duck was found dead in Miss Belle Lemmon's chicken yard, supposed to have knocked against the house in trying to pass over. Mr. Jas. Maefie is fortunate in securing a good job in Columbia, where he is now engaged in work. His family are still at their home. Miss Jano Harvey improves very slowly, not able to walk around any yet. Farmers were getting on fine with cotton planting when the wet spell stopped them. Mr. W. J. Lemmon is the only one who is about through planting. Grain is growing fine, notwith standing the cool, disagreeable weather. Miss Simonton's scholars did credit to themselves on Friday evening, in the way of speaking, reciting p..stry and reading com positions.
