Mr. Harry A. Orr, manugor of tho |
local branch of the Southern Public
Utilities company, yesterday notified I
the authorities of the t/-wn of Iva
that unless tho present pians failed,
tho current would he turned on the
lighting syatom recently installed in
that town on May 10, ono week from
today. The work has been almost ?
completed and lt ls thought every
thing will have been llnlshcd by ne>:t j
Friday.
When tho curront is turned on ap
proximately 150 homes and buslneas
houses in iva will bo lighted with
electricity and the> streets will be
Illuminated by 35 modern street
lamps, thus putting the IKtle town on
tho C. ic W C. In a ciass with thojb]
of mtum larger population.
The movement for tho lighting- sys
tem at Iva began to take definite
form during the latter part or Feb- j
mary und soon afterwards the fran
chise was signed by tho Southern j
Public Utilities company. Tho pow
er ls to be obtained from tho Gregg I

tapped at Moffottsville, three miles
