A preliminary hearing has been
given Wylie Derry, the negro who ia
charged with breaking into Mr.
Richard Jones' house revoral nights
ago, and lie was bound over to a
higher court on a ehargo of bur
glary. Tho arrest, was made by De
puty Williams in 21 hours after the
attempted burglary. Tho negro was
trailed by a blood'iound almost to
his house, but on account of the
high wind prevailing that night tho
dog lost tho trail. The chase waa
abandoned, but returning to the scene
next day Deputy Williams mado the
artes:.
Mrs. Jones heard the negro enter
the house, it was said, and w.hen nhe
awakened ber husband the burglar
fled. Nothing waa missing iron, thc
house.
